Please join us Saturday, September 13, for The Voice of the Martyrs’ “I Commit” Regional Conference. Many Christians around the world today are persecuted because of their faith in Christ, yet through their lives and words they continue to proclaim, “I Commit” to serve the Lord, to stand faithful and to share the gospel with others. Come and be encouraged by persecuted believers’ testimonies of courage and faith, hear how God has worked in their lives and learn what God’s Word teaches us about persecution and commitment.

The conference will feature the following speakers:

Gracia Burnham was a missionary in the Philippines with her husband, Martin. On May 27, 2001, they were kidnapped by the militant Muslim group Abu Sayyaf and held captive in the jungle for 376 days. During a rescue attempt by the Philippine Army on June 7, 2002, Martin was killed and Gracia was wounded. She shares her story in the books In the Presence of My Enemies and To Fly Again.

Bob Fu, founder of China Aid Association (CAA), was raised in mainland China and was a leader of the student democracy movement. In 1992 Bob became the pastor of a house church. Four years later he and his wife were imprisoned. After fleeing to the United States, Bob Fu founded CAA to draw international attention to China’s human rights violations against house church Christians. His story is told in the new book God’s Double Agent: The True Story of a Chinese Christian’s Fight for Freedom.

Russell Stendal was raised on the mission field in Colombia and became a missionary jungle pilot at age 19. He was kidnapped in 1983 by Marxist rebels and held hostage for five months, a story he relates in his book Rescue the Captors. Today, Russell operates Christian radio stations, publishes Christian literature and makes parachute drops of Christian literature and shortwave radios (VOM parachute project) into remote areas of Colombia.

He has met with and served our persecuted brothers and sisters in China, Sudan, Pakistan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cuba, India, Myanmar, Laos, Bangladesh, Colombia and many other nations. Robert travels extensively around the United States, sharing the stories of persecuted believers in conferences, churches and with various organizations.
